Brownfield - id=2051

Our experts are oriented not only on Brownfield Service but also we are able to technically support Commissioning and Start-Up projects by provision of man-power. We are familiar with a number of techniques to obtain a smooth transfer of the installations from the Construction Team to the Operator, as quickly as possible, in full confidence, and with all the required safety. This specific aspect of project completion activities, has developed in OPERCOMTM methodology and ICAPS (a dedicated tool used to organize and follow through Pre-commissioning and Commissioning activities), which all brought by TOTAL to project in country.

Brownfield modification projects are inherently complex because there is challenging with existing facilities and systems under operations. It means that brownfield “hot” work co-exists with ongoing production; it is absolutely more dangerous than Greenfield.
Any modification and integration challenges to an operational facility need precise investigation and planning. We are extensively experienced in brownfield modification projects, includes expertise in many facets of entire project lifecycle from concept to implementation where we have substantial experience and successful track records in Oil & Gas mega projects. We organizing our multi-disciplinary engineering teams to meet the needs of your project and develop technical definition at the appropriate level of detail and engineering work to drive the most optimized cost and schedule certainty in subsequent phases.
Brownfield modification and Key planning steps include:

  • Conduct a baseline survey of operation facilities and collect information on as-builds
  • Analysis the existing physical assets comparing to as-built drawings and specifications, and updating the baseline information
  • Survey the production profile for life of field for new throughput
  • Make clear distinction between offshore, interconnecting, onshore and utility systems
  • Detailed plan constructability reviews to establish physical and logistical constraints and drive design towards build simplicity
  • Plan constructability reviews to ensure engineering and design maximizes efficiencies and safety throughout execution and start-up
  • Identify and minimize requirement for partial / full production shutdowns through design
  • Establish asset late life issues which may place additional constraints and / or scope on the project (i.e. turndown, integrity, regulatory change)
  • Plan for upgrades by determining space available on existing facilities

Brownfield projects involve combining new components and existing facilities, so it is essential to understand and appreciate how these are interrelated from physical, process, maintenance and commissioning, and operating perspectives.
Disruption to ongoing production for brownfield work usually cannot be avoided, therefore it is a critical responsibility of the brownfield engineering team to identify and minimize full or partial production shutdowns.
